How do you feel about public executions?  I am sure we all would have an opinion about it.  Some feel it would be a deterrent for future crime while others would see it as torture.  Either way, it would be an uncomfortable thing to discuss.  Especially over dinner.  That is what the cross is for us as believers.  The Romans used the cross as both punishment and a deterrent. The accused and their family would view it as torture.
