The early church did not originate from a Book but from Person, Jesus Christ. When they met, they relied on memorizing the teachings of the apostles which were the foundation setters of the Church. They also had the Septuagint which was the Old Testament translated into Greek. These letters written by Paul as well as others were of great value to them and circulated throughout the churches. Sometimes the letters were answers to questions written to the apostles so they could bring clarity to a situation.
